Desde 2010, de acuerdo con datos de World Population Prospects 2022, la tasa de fecundidad adolescente en Panamá ha mostrado una tendencia descendente situándose en 2022 en 68.5 nacimientos por cada 1000 mujeres adolescentes.
Sin embargo, su nivel sigue siendo superior al promedio regional que es de alrededor 52.1 nacimientos y a nivel mundial de 41.8 nacimientos por cada 1000 mujeres entre 15-19 años.
Dicho descenso se observa usando datos de las Estadísticas Vitales de Panamá para las últimas dos décadas, que es donde se
comprueba un comportamiento descendente del número de nacimientos registrados en el grupo de mujeres menores de 20 años, los cuales llegaron a su máximo en 2012 con un total de 15,206 nacimientos registrados, y alcanzando un valor de 9,531
nacimientos registrados en 2022, según datos preliminares provistos por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censo (INEC).
